
San Diego chef Brian Johnston has partnered with emerging designer Sarah Watlington to create a contemporary and sophisticated neighborhood restaurant offering a fine-dining experience at a casual dining price. Bringing more than 20 years of experience to the Red Door, Executive Chef-Partner Johnston studied in France at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine, and was the former executive chef at the Star of the Sea Room and former chef de cuisine at El Bizcocho. His resume also includes culinary experience at Top O\' the Cove and Mille Fleurs. Chef Brian’s menu features familiar American comfort classics with his contemporary style of preparation, presentation and use of fresh, quality ingredients. To complement the cuisine, The Red Door’s wine list is mindfully selected focusing on eclectic and small-production wines from various regions around the world. Most wines are offered by the glass and ½ glass allowing guests to create their own wine and food tasting experience.
